About John Wachter

As an Edward Jones financial advisor, I believe it's important to invest my time in understanding what you're working toward before you invest your money. Working closely with you and your certified professional accountant, attorney and other professionals, I will help you determine the most appropriate financial strategy for you and your family. I also help with your retirement saving strategy, so you have more options when you retire, regardless of what you decide to do. Prior to joining Edward Jones, I served as an Aviation Physiology and Water Survival Instructor in the U.S. Navy. It was during this time that I learned the importance of clear communication when providing lifesaving advice. After I completed my tour of duty, I attended the University of New Orleans and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in political science with a focus on pre-law. Originally from Slidell, I have lived in Uptown with my wife, Sarah, our son, Smith, and our two spoiled pets, Fenway and Moonpie, since 2012. I have served as the commander of our local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, am a board member of the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute and regularly volunteer with Hogs for the Cause and Thoth Charities. I enjoy fishing, golfing, live music and traveling. My branch office administrator, Jo Varea, and I have been partnering together since 2018 to serve our clients. She has over 25 years of experience in the banking industry and was an Edward Jones client before she became an employee. She knows firsthand the level of service Edward Jones provides, and the level of service our clients deserve. I am passionate about educating and empowering my clients, so they have a financial strategy for the expected and unexpected.
