SUMMARY I am a chartered civil and environmental engineer and have worked for 35 years in the construction industry. In addition to my experience in the design and management of major projects, I have extensive experience of company management at main board level. I am currently Group Director of the City Systems group within Buro Happold. City Systems is made up of key Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering teams covering Environment,Transport, Energy, Water, Bridges and Specialist Structures In addition to this I am maintaining my work as an expert witness Board Directorships - The majority of my career has been spent with Waterman Group, a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy. From 2005 until 2013, I was an executive director of the Waterman plc board, and was the director responsible for all aspects of the Group’s civil engineering business from 1995. Business Management - I am a strategic thinker and have planned and implemented business integrations and reorganisation to align the company business model to the constantly evolving construction industry. I managed the expansion of Waterman’s civil engineering operation, from a small team to the largest company in the Group, which at its peak had a turnover of £44m with 780 staff in 16 offices throughout the UK and Ireland. This was achieved through a combination of organic growth and the acquisition of key businesses. One of my strongest skills has been the ability to implement change management in a decisive and sensitive and way, so as to retain key staff. Technical skills - I have valuable experience in designing and managing major infrastructure projects for a wide range of clients. My technical skills in development planning and infrastructure engineering have been maintained and I have given evidence as an expert witness for planning inquiries and construction disputes.
