About John Wanczycki

John has provided leadership at both enterprise and project levels, on five continents. He is Chief Operating Officer of Trecan, a market-leading technology manufacturer and exporter. John has planned for and managed rapid enterprise growth, improved operations, carried out turnarounds, secured new business, established international joint ventures and other alliances, directed multi-year international projects, mobilized project financing and mentored others. Other experience includes working as a consultant to the World Bank and other international agencies, for which John helped plan, or directed, projects totaling over $400 million, and as a consultant to governments. For the latter, he evaluated programs, prepared cabinet documents, and carried out policy studies that formed the basis of legislation in export development and innovation. John also established the Business Leaders Roundtable, a peer-to-peer learning program for business owners and CEOs. He has guest lectured on three continents on topics related to international business and environmental management. He is past President and Chair of an environmental industry association, has served on boards in both the performing arts and social services, and has served on a number of expert committees. John is fluent in English and French. In addition to his corporate duties, John guest lectures on international management at the graduate level in the US, serves as an advisor for Asian Development Bank-led initiatives, performs music for Halifax audiences, and is an avid reader and cyclist. He has a career-long interest and involvement in sustainability, broadly-defined, and is a graduate of the Corporate Environmental Leadership Seminar, Yale University.
