About John Whittaker

I have been working in Emergency Services for the past 25 years. During that time I have had the privilege and benefit of working across all aspects of the community including Industrial, Municipal, Volunteer and Association environments. This has allowed me to have a real impact on the people, environments and communities affected by difficult/trying/life changing incidents and emergencies working from the bottom up as a volunteer at the beginning of my career I had the opportunity to work in most aspects of the fire service including management of the entire department I am as at home working behind the desk as in the field in order to ensure that I provide the highest level of care and service to any project, incident, organization or community I am involved with/in. I am continually engaged with learning, not only through doing and hands on experience but also through the classroom, I have a BA/BSC in Applied Business with a specialty in Emergency Services as well as a Diploma in Emergency Services Technology. Working as a first responder helping members of the public on a daily basis will always be one of my greatest life long accomplishments however as a manager I have had the opportunity to help all staff with making there department more efficient and helpful to them and the community doing a very difficult job -Suncor creating statistical data on protective equipment boosting morale with all levels of staff -Yorkton integrating a paperless building inspection program and department equipment inventory -Barrhead creating all SOG’s SOP’s and building a training facility to insure training standards are maintained -Stacked Energy building an in-depth Emergency Response Plan and safety Program and building relationships with the AER
