Background
About Johnasia Carter
Hello! My name is Johnasia Carter, and I am a junior pursuing a B.S. in Health Sciences (Pre-Medicine) and minor in Spanish at Howard University. I am deeply passionate about healthcare equity, policy reform, economics, and mentorship. My goal is to become a leading healthcare professional, integrating advocacy and venture capital investment into OBGYN practices to address maternal health disparities affecting undeserved populations. My experiences span healthcare advocacy, research, and community service. In Summer 2024, I interned at Cboe as a Data & Access Research and Strategy Associate, where I gained valuable experience in data analysis and research—skills that complement my commitment to public health advocacy. During the spring of 2025, I was a BLKHLTH CARES Fellow where I furthered my dedication to tackling health disparities through education and policy-driven initiatives, collaborating with peers to drive meaningful change in Washington, D.C. In addition to my work in healthcare and advocacy, I have experience/hobby in digital marketing as both an entrepreneur and a creative strategist. I specialize in content creation, branding, and strategic marketing, leveraging my skills to engage audiences and build impactful social media engagment. This experience has enhanced my ability to analyze trends, communicate effectively, and implement various marketing strategies. Beyond academics, I am passionate about community service and youth mentorship. I actively contribute through programs such as Howard University Alternative Spring Break where I served as a Public Relations Strategist and Team Leader, Black Girls House, HU First-Generation Cohort, and the Radical Readers Children's Literacy Program. Through these initiatives, I have gained firsthand experience in empowering communities and fostering meaningful change in healthcare. Let’s connect to stay engaged in discussions on healthcare, advocacy, and innovation!
