About Johnathan Lau

Ever since I was a little kid, I would always imagine myself running a business, or something related to business. As years passed, I was determined that my passion in business was becoming an entrepreneur, and in accounting. Throughout high school, I had the ability to work at Asad Dean, CPA, Professional Corp. I was able to learn the aspects to running a successful business, as well as being able to learn more about the accounting profession. Using software such as Quickbooks for bookkeeping and Taxprep to file personal and corporate tax returns, I was able to enhance my knowledge in Tax as well as the necessities that would be needed in the accounting department. Throughout my Co-op's with the University of Waterloo, I had the opportunity to work at one of the largest, and fastest growing Accounting Firm's, MNP LLP. There, I was able to accumulate the hours required by CPA in Assurance as well as understand the struggles that one can face through Audits, Reviews, and Compilations. I was able to gain experience with various industries as well as many different software's to complete the annual audits such as CaseWare, TaxPrep, TaxCycle, Excel, and Quickbooks. I would be able to work within a team and learned what it took to execute tasks in a timely manner and would be able to learn a lot more when it came to being efficient. So, now, I am here looking to further advance my career as the journey at Waterloo slowly comes to an end. I am grateful that I was able to have so much experience before graduating due to the connections created at the University and am looking forward to the future it will bring.
