About Johnathan Rix

I’ve been fascinated by how and why political decisions get made since a weirdly young age for someone to be interested in such things —so I have taken that fascination and built a career focused on understanding that process and helping organizations engage with it effectively. Across roles in PEI, Ottawa, and Nova Scotia, I’ve worked at the intersection of politics, policy, advocacy, helping businesses and non-profits navigate government priorities, refine their messaging, and have meaningful, informed conversations with decision-makers. I’m most interested in the reasoning and mechanics shaping how decisions are made—what influences them, how government operates behind the scenes, and how different sectors can engage in a way that helps them get their solutions on the government agenda. Now, as Director of Policy & Advocacy at the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture, I focus on ensuring the realities of the sector are well understood and reflected in government decisions.
