About Johnathan Subendran

I am a Canadian-Tamil, born in Canada and currently based in Rotterdam. After completing a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Waterloo, I am now a master's graduate (Cum Laude) from the Dept. of Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences of TU Delft. I consider myself a versatile and strategic thinker, using space as a medium to explore topics of urban and territorial metabolism, climate-adaptive urban design, and sustainable-just transitions within cities and regions. I believe in an integrated research by design approach to addressing the wicked challenges cities face today. I have a diverse range of work experience including architectural and urban design offices, and research institutions. I am currently a researcher at Resilient Delta Initiative and Urbanism TU Delft working on topics of Inter-Transdisciplinary knowledge production, water-sensitive cities and delta resilience.
