Background
About Johnmichael Manzi
Hi! I'm JohnMichael and I graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in May 2024. I am passionate about designing and developing products through creativity, teamwork, and rapid prototyping. I'm looking forward to bringing strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset to my next opportunity. I gained hands-on engineering experience from three industry co-ops at SharkNinja, Hasbro, and Globe Composite Solutions. At SharkNinja, as a Test Engineer Co-op, I built 3D-printed test fixtures in SolidWorks that improved test repeatability and cut setup time while designing test procedures for products in the Ninja Kitchen line. I conducted performance reviews with the engineering team and frequently presented test data to leadership. I also built and managed a thermodynamic performance database of Ninja products, allowing easier comparison between products across categories. At Hasbro, I worked as a Project Engineer Co-op on the NERF team, where I designed and tested NERF products across product development phases. I researched consumer insights to drive testing and design decisions for pre- and post-launch products. I was also able to work with a team of other co-ops and mentors on our EPIC project, which brought a new toy from concept to working prototype in 5 months and was presented to senior leadership at the company. At Globe Composite Solutions, I worked as a manufacturing engineer co-op to inspect the on-site manufacturing processes of polyurethane and composite hardware for US Navy systems. I developed SolidWorks CAD models of submersible parts for third-party approval, which were then manufactured in our facility. While at Northeastern, I was able to work on my senior engineering capstone project to bring these skills together. Our team designed a Bluetooth-enabled, voice-activated baseball pitching machine for a client with mobility impairments. I worked on the mechanical system design team, using simulation tools for validation, and incorporated real user feedback to deliver a functioning, client-approved solution. At Northeastern's Capstone Day, our team won the award for Best Prototype Testing for gathering in-person feedback from our client before delivering our final project.I am eager to bring my experience to a full-time role in the engineering field. Some projects of mine can be found in my portfolio here: https://jmmanzi13.wixsite.com/johnmichael-manzi, and I can be reached at manzi.j@northeastern.edu. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about my experiences, thank you!
