About Johnny Darrell

I'm a multi-award winning director for various animated projects. Very recently, I was the Series Director for Netflix's preschool superhero series StarBeam. Prior to that, I directed 104 episodes of the Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs animated comedy for Cartoon Network / Lord Miller / WildBrain, and before that was the Series Director and Head of Visual Development for Disney XD's Slugterra. I worked with Mattel on the development of the Monster High series as well helped in development of their Hot Wheels: Battle Force Five property (Cartoon Network / Nelvana) for which I was also the Series Director for most of that production. I have extensive experience working with corporate clients, script writers, storyboard teams, voice actors, designers, modelers, animators, fx teams, composers and sound teams (as well as post production packaging) on both 3D CGI and 2D productions. I started my animation career as an editor at Mainframe Entertainment in 1997 and continue to get my hands dirty with the editing of all my shows, both in locking storyboard animatics and final animation.
