About Johnny Kurelek

I am a third-year Dalhousie University student enrolled in the Bachelor of Community Design program. I plan to receive honors in this program, majoring in Urban Design and Planning. I was originally enrolled in the Commerce program at Dalhousie University, but I switched majors after finding true passion in my Urban Planning elective courses. During the summer of 2023, I worked at the Algonquin Residence and Conference Centre, run by Campus Living Centres. At this job, I was tasked with being a front desk representative to summer-term students and seasonal hotel guests simultaneously. I learned and improved on some essential skills at the Algonquin Residence and Conference Centre. The most prominent skills being multitasking, problem-solving, team building, and leadership. I also managed to improve my communication skills in multiple languages, such as French and Ukrainian. Currently, I am reaching out to professionals who work in fields related to urban planning and community design. I would love to talk to people who have experience in the workplace, so I can gauge how to plan my future career as an urban planner.
