In 2014 we founded Timbuktu, a travel-tech platform allowing travellers to create their own trips to far-flung corners of the world with the help and guidance of our team of award-winning travel specialists. Planning trips to the world’s remote places has always been notoriously difficult. The transport, pricing and logistics are enough to give anyone a headache – and that’s before the endless emails and phone calls. We started Timbuktu to put the fun back into the planning of trips across the world and to bring the guest experience to the forefront. As we grew Timbuktu, we found ourselves running into the same frustrations many independent travel advisors face today. For our team of travel advisors, the tools for planning and selling travel were fragmented, only solving pieces of the puzzle. And when it came to showcasing complex, multi-destination itineraries, the content just wasn’t compelling enough. So, we took the plunge and decided to build our own tools and technology to streamline the process of designing and selling trips. And, along the way, we realised something important: we weren’t alone. In 2022, we decided to make the technology, content, infrastructure, and insights we’d developed available to independent travel advisors globally. The result? A platform and partnership designed to empower advisors to scale their business faster and with less friction.
