About Jojo Mitchell

I am the Essex Police Force Volunteer Police Cadet Manager, which is a scheme for for 13-18 year olds, learning a curriculum of basic policing skills and preparing the young people for their future by providing varied activities and opportunities to develop qualifications, enhance inter-personal skills and confidence, and achieve a sense of pride through supporting community policing. Our aim is to promote a practical understanding of policing amongst all young people,encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship, support local policing priorities through volunteering and give young people a chance to be heard and inspire young people to participate positively in their communities. I oversee a number of volunteer adults across 11 units, and my responsibilities include training, safeguarding, risk management, the implementation and adherence of policy & procedures and the welfare of the cadets. We also deliver the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, planning excursions, training and risk management. I worked for Essex Police as a Community Support Officer for 18 years. My role has included support at emergency incidents, low level investigations, dealing with suspects and victims at incidents, data information management, implementation of problem solving initiatives including planning and running operations combatting anti-social behaviour, working with partnership agencies and data sharing, public reassurance and public relations. Awarded PCSO of the year 2019. Completed a level 5 CVQO in management in 2022. Awarded a Mayoral award and added to the Mayors Roll of Honour for Thurrock in 2022.
