About Jolanda Patruno

I am an Earth Observation Data Exploitation and Application Engineer with a diverse and specialized background. After earning an MSc in Aerophotography and Ancient Topography from La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, focusing on Earth Observation data for Cultural Heritage, I completed a European joint PhD (Italy-France). My doctoral research centered on using full-polarimetric SAR multi-frequency data to monitor desert environments and endangered UNESCO sites. This experience introduced me to the Space Industry, where I began working as an Earth Observation (EO) Engineer at Telespazio in Rome, Italy. My role involved EO data exploitation, image quality and performance assessment, and calibration/validation activities.Currently, I am a Project Manager at Starion Group in Frascati, Italy. Over the past seven years, I have also served as an EO Support Engineer for ESA/ESRIN, specializing in SAR and multispectral dataset exploitation for multidisciplinary projects and downstream applications. My work primarily focuses on land monitoring, climate change, and emergency response.Additionally, I have lectured on Remote Sensing at various universities (Architecture, Cultural Heritage, Engineering) and have been a speaker at several international space conferences.
