About Jolene Lauria

Jolene Ann Lauria is the Acting Assistant Attorney General for Administration and Deputy Assistant Attorney General/Controller for the Department of Justice (DOJ). She is the principal financial management and budget expert for the Department of Justice. In this capacity, she is responsible for the development and execution of a budget of over $40 billion, DOJ’s Performance and Accountability Reports, and operational responsibilities for one of the nation’s largest public sector budgets. This budget spans over 40 organizations, including high-profile law enforcement organizations (FBI, DEA, USMS, ATF, and BOP). She's responsible for DOJ's public financial statements ($49.4 billion), oversees accounting and budget operations, directs appropriations work, and has operational control over Departmental special funds (Working Capital Fund-$1.7 billion; Assets Forfeiture Fund-$2.3 billion; and Debt Collection Fund-$494.7 million). Jolene is the Department’s Performance Improvement Officer and Evaluation Officer. Ms. Lauria is the lead executive responsible for the DOJ’s Unified Financial Management System where she recently consolidated seven separate financial systems into a single system that supports over users. Ms. Lauria served on INTERPOL’s Executive Committee (2014-2018) and currently the Chair of INTERPOL’s Advisory Group on Financial Matters that reviews and makes recommendations on INTERPOL’s worldwide budget. Ms. Lauria has served in several key financial management positions during her 33 years in the Federal government. Jolene is currently an executive board member for Department of State’s International Cooperative Administrative Support Services and DOJ’s Attorney Student Loan Repayment Program. Jolene voluntarily serves on the Board of Directors for Calvert County Hospice, Long Beach Community and Cherry Lane Farm Community Association. She has also worked for the International City Management Association, and the American Society for Public Administration. Ms. Lauria has a B.S. in Political Science, a certificate in Public Administration from the University of Maryland, a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the American University, and a graduate of the FBI National Academy. She was awarded the Patricia Roberts-Harris Fellowship and Arthur S. Flemming Award for Exemplary Public Service at the American University; two Presidential Rank Awards (2010-Distinguished/2006-Meritorious), received the Attorney General’s Award (2010), and twice a Federal 100 winner (2009 and 2015)
