About Jon Ayscue

Well-rounded, ready to learn, and a self-starter. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 2012 with a B.S. in Business Administration - Operations/Supply Chain. I grew up in North Carolina and moved to Virginia in 2014. In my past positions, I have gained experience in areas including customer service, operations, and supply chain/logistics. Recently, I've started adding to my skillset and would love to pursue a career in the technology industry. So far, I've gained introductory skills in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python, and Django, and have completed multiple projects. Through Python Crash Course (Eric Matthes), I built a 2D arcade-style game using Pygame, and a working blog site (including a PostgreSQL backend). My newest project will involve building an astronomy-related RESTful API with Django Rest Framework. For my data, I'll hook into the NASA API for Near Earth Objects. In 2021/2022, I had the incredibly unique opportunity to complete a short-term contract as an Operations Coordinator with an NGO in New Jersey. This position was on a military base and was related to the Afghan refugee crisis. This role gave me valuable experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging environment, as well as experience working as part of a team. Every day was different, and it was one of the most unique experiences I've ever had!
