About Jon Bennett

I'm the Service Desk & Training Specialist for the Office of Advancement at Queen's University. In this role I am part of the Information Technology Management team supporting around 150 computers and various other High Tech. devices and applications utilized by our Advancement colleagues. Supporting our fundraising campaign has encompassed some exciting work including migrating users mail and calendars to a MS Exchange environment also moving users to an Active Directory Domain. This was a huge change across the entire department and University, requiring working partnerships with the University central IT and all of the departments involved in this pilot effort. This was a successful project and we all enjoyed the benefits of the new platforms. Before joining Advancement Technical Services, I worked in the Executive MBA office at the Queen's School of Business and enjoyed working with some wonderful people including Student, Faculty and staff on and off campus. I am passionate about emerging trends in technology and am eager to connect with others in the Information Technology field. I enjoy all aspects of my job, however data security is where my interest is peaked. As we explore and identify areas where we need to increase security awareness and best practices we find better ways to do our jobs and that is where the reward lies. I have a diploma from St Lawrence College, Computer Network Technician program, and am currently preparing to take the CompTIA A+ exam. My next goal is to study for the CompTIA Security+ certification and further expand my tool-set.
