About Jon Derks

I have been in the Bar and Grill industry for the last 6 years and have missed out on the time for me to get my life on a path. I have been cooking for about 7 years and really enjoy it. The hours have slowed down and I have been looking for a different career path so I can build a future for myself. I went to Milwaukee Area Technical for Automotive Technology completed the automotive part of the program but still need the to complete the Economics class that is required for the degree which I did not complete because of scheduling issues with the school. I am going to go and complete the one day a week class and get the degree. In that program, I learned the basics in most areas of the automotive field like, electronics, a/c, brakes, suspension, engine performance, and using scan tools and volt meters. I really want to make automotives my career, but I need more hands on experience and want to get my ASE certification to be the best tech that I can. I want to continue to learn as this field grows. I am looking to build a future before it's too late. I have made mistakes in my life that I have learned from but have hindered my progress in my life. Trying to get my foot in the door anywhere is hard but I will keep trying and performing the best that I possibly can.
