About Jon-Elyn Murphree

I am a graduate of the University of Alabama where I obtained my BS in Addiction and Recovery and a minor in Criminal Justice. My chosen studies allowed me to gain a depth of knowledge about the disease of addiction and its family aspects, therapy, treatment, as well as the process of recovery. During my undergraduate studies, I was accepted into the Accelerated Master's Program to pursue my MS in Human Development and Family Studies concentrating in Marriage and Family Therapy. Through my graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy, I am focused on systemic approaches to treat individuals, couples, as well as families. I am trained to treat a wide variety of mental health issues and enjoy working with diverse populations. I am also training hands on as an intern at both the Capstone Family Therapy Clinic and Agape Therapy with a current client case-load. I consider it such a privilege to be able to sit beside others in their struggles and work to find solution. Additionally, I work in drug prevention for a nonprofit, P.R.I.D.E. of Tuscaloosa (Parents Resource Institute for Drug Education). At P.R.I.D.E, I am able to work with youth and parents in the west Alabama community and educate them on the dangers of substance use and abuse.
