About Jon Giddings

I'm driven by a desire for efficiency, a will to succeed, and a positive mindset. I take pride in getting the details right while always stepping back to understand the bigger picture. I have a technical background with strengths in numeracy and computer hardware & software. I design fire & security systems and lead a small design team, energised by the challenge of finding the most effective & efficient designs as well as the technology to deliver these systems. Sustainability matters deeply to me. I select products with green credentials and use design methods that reduce waste and pollution. In my personal life, I’ve transformed my garden into a flourishing wild space and build my own bee hotels and bird boxes with IP cameras that I view remotely. I believe reversing biodiversity loss and addressing climate change starts at home, and I encourage others to take small, meaningful steps. Having worked on my own but also in different teams & departments of T H WHITE, I have gained commercial awareness that improves my decision making both at work and in my personal life. Making profit, protecting our world and living life to the fullest is a balancing act. Data in all aspects of my life fascinates me. At work this includes analysis of optimal detection coverage, battery capacity, labour requirements and financial statistics. At home just one example is my meteorology hobby using my web connected weather station. Numbers and I have always had a great relationship, which is why I’ve been a keen mathematician since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Sport has always been a favourite outlet. I enjoy badminton, cycling, running, golf and darts. I'm also a lifelong Formula 1 fan and have attended race weekends at home and abroad. Travel is another great passion - whether it’s with my partner in Scarlett, our spirited red campervan, or flying off to explore new places. It broadens the mind and feeds the soul.
