About Jon Guffey

I have a quite varied background that has lead me to this point. Started of in manufacturing as an intern in college with International Paper as a supply chain buyer and special project investigations. Showed the company how the my could solve a bottle neck with a ROI of less than 2 years. An opportunity arose for me to take my computer skills and become a desktop support technician. In 6 years worked my way up to Senior Network Administrator as we started a wireless ISP and had business contracts with many businesses in Columbus, IN. I then moved to a real estate management company for multi-family housing units as an Operations manager. Managing all aspects of the operations of up to 440 units across Indiana. Returning to the manufacturing sector I accepted a position as a New Model Specialist. This position was essentially a Program Manager position for preparation and launch of new part production for new models of Toyota vehicles. Responsible for the tracking and reporting of project milestones, item completion and reporting to the executive team. After several years in this position I wanted to expand more into the engineering aspects of manufacturing and accepted a position as a New Model Quality engineer. This position was responsible for the design and development of the complete quality plan for new part quality control, testing validation, and quality standard negotiation with the customer QE. Using my engineering skills I developed and implemented many improvement item that helped make our quality KPI improve significantly. Recognizing my engineering skill set the executive team promoted me to Group Lead over the engineering department. This position managed a team of 6-7 engineers developing all new part processes and supporting maintenance and kaizen activity. This was a great move for me as I was a able to really expand my skills and work to improve countermeasure analysis and implementation on new equipment and tooling during development using the quality mindset I attained in my previous position. My performance as a Engineering Group Leader, I was promoted to Unit Manager Exterior Engineering over three separate engineering departments encompassing 1/3 of the plant operations. In this position, I had to build upon my previous work to achieve department KPIs. Finding a new opportunity, I recently moved to Toyota Material Handling as a Technical Program Manager. This position leverages all my previous experience to help review technical issue and provide guidance to resolution and permanent countermeasure.
