About Jon Hanson

Even as a child with my Commodore 64 I had a passion for software. I would constantly type in programs to see what their output would be and how it would change when I would make changes. I continued with my interest in software throughout school and made it my career choice. I believe that designing software is best done through proper engineering process instead of just jumping in and writing code. It takes more time up-front but results in easier-to-maintain and products that have lower bug rates with higher customer satisfaction and lower costs. One of my side activities at Intel was to participate in a group whose goal was to drive these kinds of changes in to the software development process there. I have experience developing software at a kernel-level for both Windows and Linux all the way up to application-level development. Learning UI development is something I've always wanted to learn. In addition to software development, I have done software validation work where I developed innovative solutions and tools to test things that are impossible to observe directly or to automate testing for better throughput. I have been teaching myself Swift to learn iOS and OS X development. I have also taken a class on Android development but haven't had the opportunity to do anything with it outside of the class.
