Background

About Jon Hardes

I am a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), zooarchaeologist and vertebrate osteologist, working in the field since I have broad research interests in predator-prey relationships and reconstruction of past environments as illuminated by vertebrate skeletal remains. My formal archaeological experience includes cultural resource records searches, survey, testing, data recovery, site mapping, extensive faunal research, laboratory analysis, Section 106 compliance, technical reporting, publishing in professional journals and an array of museum curatorial duties. I have supervised numerous multi-person crews consisting of fellow professional archaeologists, technicians, interns and volunteers. I regularly work with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) and Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA)-related issues. I have professional experience in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
