About Jon Lewis

I'm a mechanical design professional currently working for BMG (formerly GN Thermoforming Equipment) to design the next generation of thermoformers. During my time with BMG, I've developed my skills in mechanical design, design for manufacture, and analysis, while collaborating with several departments on individual projects. With these projects, I developed skills in quality management and root-cause analysis, putting some of my existing skills in design of experiments to use, and worked to improve cross-department communication and collaboration. With my undergraduate and master's degree in mechanical engineering, I've gained experience and understanding of mechanical design, materials engineering and materials testing. My graduate degree focused on a variety of mechanical testing methods including hardness testing, compressive testing at low/high strain rates and low/high temperatures, and other specialized testing methods. I gained hands-on experience with scanning electron microscopy as well during my studies. I've also grown and tested my teamwork skills in academic projects, extra-curricular projects, and industry projects. I've presented and published my work at several conferences including COM 2021 and Heat Treat 2021, and was recently awarded for my presentation at ACAM 2021. These opportunities have developed my communication skills both in presentations and in networking environments.
