About Jon McLaughlin

After 33 years of teaching and coaching, I find myself in the midst of a career change due to my retirement as an educator later this year. After looking into different opportunities, I have decided to start up my very own travel agency as a franchisee with Dream Vacations/Cruise One. For some of you, you may be wondering that this might be a strange choice for a new career, but it is not so strange. After teaching World History for a number of years and reading about places like Versailles, the Sistine Chapel, Machu Pichu, Notre Dame, and the Terra Cotta Warrior museum. I decided to lead a student trip to France and Italy for the Spring of 2006. At first, I didn't know if I could recruit enough interested students to go but I did. Since our first trip, tours with students become an event that we have done every other year. Over the past 16 years, I have led hundreds of students on tours to Europe, Asia, and South America and our tours are always full. With the student travel companies, I became a VIP that they have competed over to get our business. As a result of these tours, travel has become my passion. When I was looking for a new career, the chance to own my very own travel agency was a no-brainer. My dream of travel became a reality.
