About Jon Ostendorf

An executive information technology leader, I have gained more than 20 years of experience developing and executing best-in-class IT strategies to help organizations achieve new levels of growth and success. Through a deep understanding of both short- and long-term technology needs, I have directed technology strategy and operations in high-stakes, complex environments throughout my career. My focus for technology strategy is to understand the business, and ensure that all aspects of technology effectively support the mission and goals of the organization. Most recently, I have served as the first-ever Chief Information Officer for Princeton Day School. In this position, I manage a team charged with developing information technology strategy impacting 1200 students, faculty, and staff across multiple buildings on a large campus. Across my tenure, I have revitalized the IT organization, vision, systems, and operations. Additionally, I managed change while pivoting operations during the COVID-19 pandemic to enable highly effective remote and hybrid-learning across the campus. I have also developed STEM curriculum and taught an engineering course.Prior to this role, I served as the Director of Information Technology Services for The Hotchkiss School, a premier independent boarding school. I led all aspects of information technology, including academic, administrative and residential areas. I enhanced privacy and security across the organization, while modernizing technology operations and strategy.Before Hotchkiss, as Executive Director of Information Technology for two large, diverse school districts, I oversaw a 50+ member geographically dispersed teams serving 45K+ technology users. My experience leading technology strategy and vision is complemented by my hands-on experience and foundation from my time at Schlumberger, where I held various roles including Field Engineer, Product Champion, and Senior Development Engineer. Along with strategic planning and technology leadership, I specialize in building and developing high-performing teams through a service-oriented leadership style.
