About Jon van Nostrand

i have 25+ years combined experience from a junior aircraft mechanic to a operations officer and graduated squadron commander for an acquisition unit and leading the DoDs joint requirement Oversight Council secretariat, validating the highest levels of DoD joint overarching requirements. I have served these various roles and levels of leadership through deputy Senior Materiel Leader and am uniquely qualified to employ articulate and guide the strategy and daily execution of operational units. history: I started out enlisted working maintenance on C-130 aircraft. after commissioning as an aquisitions officer I was competitively selected to career broadened for three years into B-1 Aircraft maintenance at Dyess AFB, TX, leading the aircraft maintenance generation of 400 mechanics with B-1 Bombers and in Afghanistan with F-16 Fighters. I then became the lead program manager of over 25 professionals of the Weapons element in charge of sustainment for USAF Fighter Guns, Special Operations aircraft Guns, Bomb Racks and small Arms (through 50 Caliber). Starting in 2015, I became the C-130 Sustainment branch deputy at Warner Robins AFB. I then spent time on the headquarters Air staff at the Pentagon as program element monitor for both the legacy and J-model C-130s, before moving to the Joint staff/J-8, as the team lead for the JROC Secretariat. From Jun 2020 to 2023 I was in resent have been charged with Modernizing the portfolio of Common Support Equipment across the USAF to remain competitive in the world's current security environment- Lt Col Jon Van Nostrand is a certified Level Program Manager and a Level I Life-cycle Logistics through the Defense Acquisition University. Additionally, he is a qualified 21A Aircraft Maintenance Officer.
