About Jon Weirs

I am a structural engineer with experience delivering multidisciplinary building and infrastructure projects across sectors including commercial, logistics and rail. My career to date has focused on both technical design and project delivery, with growing responsibility for coordination, communication, and stakeholder management. At Arup, I have contributed to the design and delivery of high-profile infrastructure and distribution centre projects. I’ve worked closely with clients and design teams to ensure alignment of technical outputs with programme, budget, and wider project goals. More recently, I’ve undertaken life cycle assessments (LCAs) on building fit-outs and template warehouses as part of a secondment to Arup’s building sustainability team, developing a strong appreciation of carbon and whole-life performance in project decision-making. I bring a proactive, delivery-focused approach to projects, shaped by my background in both engineering and competitive sport. In my final year at University, I was awarded the AECOM Prize for ‘Best Civil Engineering Design Student’ and selected for the English Universities football team. In May 2025, I was shortlisted for ‘Young Professional of the Year’ by G4C North East.
