About Jonah Leech

I am a graduate student, an educator, and a veteran. At this time I am seeking to further my professional growth as I transition into the role of a counselor (2026). Prior to becoming an educator, I served in the US Army National Guard. During this time, I played an active role as a Fire Support Specialist, ensuring our unit processed Fire Missions successfully. As an educator, the last 3 years have been exceptionally rewarding and have taught me valuable skills. Within my first two years of teaching, I worked diligently to create a positive and supportive learning environment. As a reflection of this hard work, my students nominated me for Teacher of the Year (2023) and the RISE educator award (2024). Throughout this journey, I began to develop a sense of my personal identity. After a short time, I felt a passion to assist individuals on their diverse mental health issues. Being an educator showed me how much our community needs hardworking individuals in the mental health field. I understood that this came with further development and educational requirements; therefore, I decided to enroll into Capella University. As a current Graduate Student, I have learned and grown even further. My time spent studying in this program has led me to reflect on my professional identity, and given focus on the pathway I am seeking. At this point, it is my goal to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. I truly want to help other Adults / Young Adults successfully navigate through all of life’s burdens and barriers.
