I am a consulting industrial designer, partnering with entrepreneurs, startups, and corporations through Office for Design to create impactful, market-defining physical products and experiences. My expertise in human-centered design and technology is relevant to these different types of clients because of my background on both agency side (speed & versatility) and client side (business understanding & endurance).At global innovation consultancy Frog Design, I led the North American industrial design and mechanical engineering teams as Executive Creative Director, partnering with clients such as Amazon, Google, Nespresso, Samsung, Target, Toyota, and Verizon. Our outputs went to market, fulfilled innovation strategies, and created the brands' design language systems.At Starbucks Coffee Company, I led the cross-functional Concepts Studio as Vice President. I founded the companies first industrial design practice as a means to directly improve the customer and partner experience and streamline store design and operations through improved equipment and integration. Quality, speed, and satisfaction saw measurable improvement. At Office for Design, I put this background into practice, delivering transformative results for clients and exceptional experiences for their customers. A few recent projects:Google needed help creating a system of kiosks for self-guided, experimental digital-physical interactions. Chameleons, now deployed at Google Experience Centers around the world, are kiosks I designed by adapting the Google Hardware design language to create familiarity for this large scale interactive equipment. DroneUp needed help making their automated last-mile drone delivery hub consumer friendly. I delivered a branded design solution that instills familiarity and security to the new and potentially off-putting technology.Steve Ells' new restaurant concept, Kernel, required a system of low-cost lockers to facilitate customer order self-pickup. I created a hybrid, systematized off-the-shelf / custom design solution that created a signature experience centered within the new eateries.Please message me if you'd like to learn more.
