About Jonas Schwab

I look forward to joining an exceptional team of experienced professional web designers with insight into what makes for elegant and easy interactions between humans and machines. I hope to gain a deeper understanding of how consistent and simple design principles (think Apple), human psychology (think mobile scrolling vs. top ads), effective support for a user's learning curve (think online gaming), and result-driven AB-testing (think Amazon) intersect to create exceptional user experiences. I am particularly interested in learning from experts and practitioners about their perspectives on Dieter Rams, James Dyson, and Jony Ive. But ultimately, I want to build products that work. I want to work on a real-life, large-scale, complex software application where I can learn from experts and practitioners beyond what I have learned in academia. In my club and class work, I am drawn to front-end work that facilitates human and machine interactions. However, I am also eager to delve into the broader practices essential for building robust, scalable software. I am particularly interested in topics like continuous testing, peer reviews, documentation, maintainability, code refactoring, and graceful degradation. These areas are challenging to explore in academic settings but are crucial for the success of large development teams.
