About Jonas Thelin

Jonas Thelin obtained his PhD in 2005 from the Lund University, Sweden, regarding the role of adhesion molecules during the development of spinal reflex circuits. After defending his thesis a post-doc period followed where he focused his research on nicotine’s roll in the development of spinal motor system. In 2008 he went on to Neuronano Research centre, that is an interdisciplinary research and innovation centre combining neuroscience in vivo with nano- and micro-technology in the development of a new generation of neural interfaces for basic research and clinical applications. This is a ten year project that is founded by the Swedish research counsil. In 2011 Jonas went to Lundbeck, a pharmaceutical company in Denmark, to set up a new translational animal model on schizophrenia. It resulted in a new mouse model combining both translational auditory stimulation paradigms and the genetic risk factor for developing schizophrenia. 2013 he went back to the Neuronano Research Centre where he works as a researcher accountable for in vivo recordings in both rats and mice. His current research is developing a new animal model for monitoring pain by the use of the newly develop chronic electrodes.
