About Jonathan Acosta

My funeral service experience began in September of 2010. I currently work for a family owned funeral home as a Funeral Director/Embalmer and as a clinical instructor with Worsham College of Mortuary Science. In my current and past positions I have worked for family owned businesses and have been involved in all aspects of the business from first call, to final disposition, and through the aftercare process. I have worked with families in both the at-need and pre-need aspects of various faith backgrounds. Other duties include filing legal paperwork, death certificates, and other important documents. My accounting background has also enabled me to provide assistance with merchandise pricing including casket and vaults, GPL work, and developing discount price packaging. I have also worked with the AGA as an embalmer. My duties included performing donor intake, preparing cadavers for medical and anatomical study, maintaining the cadaver database, assisting with completing donor files, assist office manager with coordinating transfer of cadavers to universities and colleges, maintain prep room and prep supplies. Prior to my time as a funeral service professional, I worked as an accountant/ bookkeeper for both a small distribution business and non-profit organization. My accounting duties included AP, AR, Bank reconciliations, General ledger work, basic budgeting, and expense reporting. The majority of my work experience comes from retail management and customer service. My responsibilities included customer service, inventory management, and personnel management. Through these experiences, I have developed my communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and customer service skills and have learned to effectively manage my time and learned to be proactive. My backgrounds combined offer the ability to understand how to lead and motivate a team in a cost effective way while fulfilling the needs of the families and customers served.
