About Jonathan Albo
I have focused my research on the development of Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technologies, aimed at mitigating the CO2 impact from fossil fuels and promoting the transition to a low-carbon economy. During my research career, I initially addressed the separation of CO2, followed by its transformation into value-added chemicals. Currently, I lead a research line in the design and analysis of photo-assisted processes employing innovative electrode architectures and optimized reactors. I completed my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at UC. I then held a JSPS postdoctoral fellowship (2013) at Hiroshima University and a Juan de la Cierva contract (2014-2016) at the University of the Basque Country. Subsequently, I re-joined UC as a Ramón y Cajal Senior Researcher (2016-2022) where I am currently Associate Professor in the Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Department. My main research interests lie in the field of photo(electro)catalysis for the production of value-added chemicals, which I develop in collaboration with international researchers and through several ongoing funded research projects.
