About Jonathan Blumhofer

Composer, teacher, writer. My music has won numerous awards and been performed by a number of leading national, international, and regional ensembles, including the American Composers Orchestra, Kiev Philharmonic, Camerata Chicago, Worcester Chamber Music Society, and Juventas New Music Ensemble. Since 2011, I've taught college-level classes on various topics in music, ranging from early music to American popular music, music fundamentals to form and analysis, as well as advanced classes in music theory, and private lessons in both composition and viola. My scholarly work, primarily focusing on American music, has been presented at conferences in California, Illinois, North Carolina, and Connecticut. I've had reviews and articles published in the Notes: the Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association and The Hymn. As a writer, I've been a classical music critic for the Arts Fuse (artsfuse.org) since 2011, reviewing concerts in the greater Boston and Worcester areas, as well as recordings, books, concert previews, and commentaries on developments in the arts. Since 2012, I've also been a classical music critic for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
