About Jonathan Carncross

A Red Seal Certified Chef with 10+ years in the Hospitality industry. The majority of my time in this field has been with the JOEY Restaurant Group - running locations for both the JOEY and LOCAL brands within the companies umbrella. My career in the field started at age 17 - starting with a restaurant group I was able to grow with, becoming a Sous Chef at age 19. By 20, I was the Chef of a brand new concept - and was assigned the tasks of designing the kitchen, creating the menu, hiring the initial team and opening the new location. At 22 I started my career with JOEY - and in the past ten years have run 5 locations, been part of the opening team for 6 new locations - 1 of which was a store which I would run, and opened it as the Chef of that location. I have been based in Vancouver and Toronto during my time with JOEY - starting in my home town of Coquitlam, moving to Toronto in 2015, and then moving back to Vancouver in 2019. Apart from JOEY and my culinary/hospitality passion - I have experience in sales and construction. I also had a very interesting 5 months working as a driller in an underground coal mine. Over my 10+ years - I have found the most exciting part of my journey to be what I have learned from those I have worked with, and what I have been able to offer to them in return. I am fortunate to be in a position in which I am able to lead a team of individuals - and I am constantly looking to continue my personal growth, both for my personal drive to grow and learn and to provide better leadership and further education to those who work on my team.
