Background
About Jonathan Chartier
Graduated with a Master's Degree in Political Science, my work and my research have been center around the social and political debates of our contemporary society, focusing on Canadian and Québec contexts. Engaged in my collectivity, I am passionate about the challenges to face. Presently working for the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion (MIDI), my role consists of conducting qualitative and quantitative research on a variety of topics related to immigration. From this research, I make different recommendations depending on the issues. I have worked on various subjects from the decision-making process of candidates wishing to immigrate, to the different chapters in the International Agreements of Canada concerning immigration. In parallel to these projects, I am currently working on foreign talent recruitment strategies for local businesses. In a provincial context of near full employment, businesses are confronted by a shortage of labour and, in some cases, need to seek talent internationally. Before working for the provincial government, I was employed for 4 years at the McCord-Stewart Museums as a Guide/Educator during autumn and winter, and as an Assistant coordinator during the summer. Throughout these years, I proved my capacity to be autonomous and creative by designing and animating different activities and workshops to a wide public. As museums focusing on Canadian society, the exhibits presented treated different topics from common Canadian history to more contemporary subjects, such as issues facing Native communities. I had to adopt different communicational approaches for the different audiences and cultures visiting the museums.
