About Jonathan Cimino

Dr. Jonathan Cimino is an Associate Professor of Clinical Trials at the University of Liège (ULiège) as well teaching activities at the University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu). He also serves as the coordinator for the University Clinical Trials Certificate program. Since 2023, Dr. Cimino has held the position of Clinical Director of Research at the Hôpital Universitaire de Bruxelles (H.U.B.), which includes Erasme-ULB, Bordet Institute, and HUDERF. Dr. Cimino earned his PhD in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences with a focus on cancer research from ULiège. Over the years, he has been awarded multiple research grants (including from Pierre Van Beirs, Annick Griez, CAMILLE HELA Foundation, Centre Anticancereux, and Leon Fredericq). He also completed a specialized cancer research training program at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women's Hospital. Following this, Dr. Cimino took on a postdoctoral and project leader role at GIGA-Cancer. He later transitioned to working as a Clinical Project Leader at a contract research organization (CRO) in clinical research. In 2017, Dr. Cimino joined the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), where he was responsible for designing the Luxembourg Centre for Clinical and Translational Research (LCTR) and led the coordination and early development of clinical research projects. As the European correspondent for the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN), he provided regulatory, ethical, and logistical guidance to European investigators interested in expanding their academic clinical trials in Luxembourg or Belgium. During 3 years, Dr. Cimino served as Head of Clinical Research at Hôpitaux Robert Schuman (merger of 4 hospitals) in Luxembourg.
