About Jonathan Cotton

I am an experienced Postdoctoral Researcher in the Werner Siemens Imaging Center in beautiful Tuebingen, Germany. I acquired my BSc.(Hons) and MSc. in organic chemistry from the University of Cape Town. My PhD focusing on medicinal and radiochemistry was completed at the Werner Siemens Imaging Center. My PhD work involved probing the molecular and biochemical changes that occur in the body as a result of cancer - synthesizing multimodal (fluorescent, PET and MRI) probes that can elucidate the mechanisms of disease as well as provide new insight into treatment. My current work has led to the development of a PET probe for in vivo detection of cellular senescence, which is currently in a phase II clinical trial. I am a team player who works well with others but can also work alone. I love problem solving and am regarded for out-of-the-box thinking. More than anything, I enjoy being stimulated, learning new skills and pushing myself to grow. My personal interests include playing guitar and bass, music on the whole. I have a passion for cooking and food in general. I am a hobby BBQ enthusiast and feel at home next to warm fire. I love traveling to new places, meeting interesting people and learning about their unique culture and history. I try to Keep fit with gym, jogging and cycling.
