I am a social worker with more than six years experience post registration with SACSSP. I have worked in various NGO's predominantly in the child protection field. Responsibilities includes intake and assessment for children at risk, appropriate early intervention services rendered to children and families in need of care and protection. Statutory intervention to ensure the safety of children and intervention to parents and caregivers including mediation services. I later on worked for government department of social development in which child protection was the core business; however, I also provided substance abuse services which include intakes and assessment for substance use disorders, early intervention services eg psycho-education, brief therapy, statutory intervention involuntary admissions for substance use disorder (section 33), aftercare/ reintegration services providing psycho-support services to service users and families. Group intervention by providing support group for family and friends and pre-admissions groups for service users. Rehabilitation admissions, facilitating detoxification when needed. Keeping high standard of social work processes related to administration and report writing. I have recently, moved into private practice as a clinical social worker providing services for addiction care and mental health service for clients/ patients and their families. This includes consulting with clients and families related to addiction care and mental health services. Also provide professional opinions and advice to media for example, PaarlPost and Huisgenoot Magazine. Facilitating admission for client's at rehabilitation centres and psychiatric clinics. Providing psych-social support services for those admitted and working with clinic to develop a discharged plan for clients and their families. Therapeutic approaches for intervention with my client system is CBT, SFT, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Systems Theory, MI and many more. I have a membership with International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP), commissioner of oaths, contributor writer for Huisgenoot Magazine. I am also doing my Masters of Social Work at the UWC. Previous qualifications includes, Pg Dip Addiction Care, BSW, Dip Social Development [US, UWC & UNISA].
