About Jonathan Custer

With over 16 combined-years in medicine as a CRNA, Registered Nurse, and Paramedic as well as 9 years combined-experience at Adult and Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Centers, I have developed a high level of expertise and competence in trauma and burn care, general anesthesia for complex high-acuity patients, regional anesthesia and acute pain management, and critical care management. With over 6 years in the United States Army, one deployment, and my current role as the primary CRNA at the 124th Forward Resuscitative and Surgical Detachment, I have developed an ever-growing knowledge base for operational medicine, anesthesia and resuscitation services in austere, deprived, and logistically challenging environments. In addition to my clinical skills, I am also passionate about education and mentorship. I have shared my knowledge and experience with junior medical/anesthesia/paramedical staff, students, and colleagues through lectures, hands-on training, and one-on-one guidance. I have also contributed to the advancement of the field through my participation in research, presentations, and publications on post-traumatic stress disorder. My mission is to deliver high-quality and compassionate care to my patients, while also supporting the development and growth of the anesthesia and combat medicine community.
