About Jonathan Go

I am currently a Senior Engineer at HDB's Building & Research Institute. I am HDB's representative for Enterprise Singapore (ESG) Gov-PACT programme which grows and develops local SMEs/startups by providing government led demand and funding to offset development risks. I drive demand-led innovation between government agencies, corporate partners, startups and research performers. My work involves identifying innovation opportunities, challenge statement scoping with demand drivers, launching and managing open innovation calls, and advising on agile solution development to meet user requirements. I lead the Smart Energy Town Development in HDB's 24th Town at Tengah. By integrating Smart Energy Solutions with an interconnected Digital Layer, we are able to create more sustainable, eco-friendly smart towns. As part of the Smart Energy Town, technology initiatives such as Centralised Cooling System (CCS), Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Building Integrated Solar PV (BIPV), Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Electric Vehicle Charging and Energy Concierge. The energy concierge is an AI enabled central energy brain that interlinks all smart energy initiatives, automates and optimises the energy decision making. My research areas include:(i) Electric Vehicle charging where we plan our towns to be ready to support electric vehicle charging according to government targets.(ii) Smart Lighting where we install LED lights with an interconnected smart sensor network. This allows us to dim down lighting levels during periods of no activity, obtaining up to 60% energy savings compared with non-smart LED Smart water meter deployment allows us to have real time data consumption, allowing town councils to react faster to leakages and also to prevent unauthorised water usage.(iv) Cool paint that is a passive way of cooling our buildings, leading to greater thermal comfort for our residents. Previously I was a Keppel Offshore and Marine (Keppel FELS) Scholarship recipient where I worked on many offshore oil rig design and commissioning including the world largest CJ-70 series jack ups and Semisubmersible Drilling Tenders (SSDT),
