About Jonathan Grajales

During my years of experience in the medical field, I have noticed of the importance of providing health with compassion, empathy, and care. My clinical experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant have driven me to further my education in the medical field and explore career opportunities that are rather broad and would allow me to pursue different paths and occupations. As a Certified Nursing Assistant I was able to provide help with activities of daily living to the fragile population and to those with mental health disorders such as dementia. This field is rewarding and allows you to become empathetic and compassionate towards others. At the same time, I have been working with people who are limited to the English language speaking abilities, and I am able to provide care to them by being their voice when they are seeking medical attention or treatment. In this field, I have learned that if a person cannot properly communicate with a Doctor in the English language, their needs will not be met and further complications of chronic disease will arise. During my 5 years of clinical experience I have learned that we are all human and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnicity, immigration status, and overall background. I currently attend the University of Rhode Island to earn a Bachelor degree of Science in Health Studies with a concentration in Health Promotion. This is my last year of undergraduate studies. For my graduate studies, I would love to go into Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Epidemiology. I am also a serving member of the Rhode Island Army National Guard and I plan to continue serving and become an officer in the near future. I came from Colombia 16 years ago, and I have lived in the state of Rhode Island ever since. I am passionate about people's health, cultures, and learning about different disease and treatment options that evolve every day with science.
