About Jonathan Harkins

Staff Sergeant Harkins arrived at Parris Island, South Carolina on July 18, 2006. He graduated recruit October 13, 2006. After recruit training he went to Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Geiger, North Carolina where he graduated as the honor graduate of his class. The last part of his entry level training was done aboard Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He graduated Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense school in April 2007. SSgt Harkins first tour was aboard Camp Lejeune, NC at 2nd Marine Division HQ CBRN platoon where he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. During his time at 2nd MARDIV he was able to attend tech escort aboard Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. Upon his return from tech escort he attended the consequence management train the trainer course aboard Camp Lejeune. He was then attached to 1st battalion 2nd Marines for a deployment to Iraq. He went to Iraq from July 2008 until February 2009. Upon return he was sent back to 2nd MARDIV CBRN platoon where he did his first re enlistment and received orders to MCAS Miramar. Upon arrival at MCAS Miramar SSgt Harkins was attached to MAG-11. In july 2010 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and assumed the billet of CBRN NCOIC for MAG-11. In September of 2011 he was sent to Marksmanship coach course and became a CMC for the Marine Corps on Hatchcock range aboard MCAS East Miramar. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May 1, 2012 while aboard the range. He then attended the Combat Marksmanship trainer course and became a CMT. He then assumed the billet of pistol range line SNCOIC as a sergeant. In September 2012 he received orders back to MAG-11. In December 2012 he received his orders to Drill Instructor School. SSgt Harkins checked into Drill Instructor school aboard MCRD San Diego in April 2013. After DI school he checked into Charlie Company 1st Battalion. After his first cycle he attended Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival school and became a MCWIS. While aboard the recruit depot he graduated 6 platoons. In November 2015 he received order to 2nd Maintenance Battalion aboard Camp Lejeune, NC. He was promoted to his current rank of Staff Sergeant on December 1, 2015. SSgt Harkins checked into 2nd Maint Bn in June 2016. He attended arrow head thunder in Georgia in support of 10th Marines in August 2016. He attended CBRN Planner course in February 2017. In 2018 was transfered to Combat Logistics Group 2 to be the regimental training chief and finished his military career with that unit in January 2019. Now is a production supervisor at stanadyne LLC.
