About Jonathan Hawes

Diligent. Creative. Passionate. Jonathan is a double degree postgraduate student in Political and Legal Theory at the University of Warwick and Journalism at Monash University. His studies have encompassed a broad range of topics, from global economic governance, to digital journalism, to legal philosophy. He is currently undertaking a research project into the role of experts in shaping public policy. When he is not studying, Jonathan works as a Junior Economic Analyst for Career Management Services, a business in Melbourne, Australia which specialises in Career Coaching, Resume Writing, and Redeployment/Outplacement Services. In addition, he is a volunteer editor and newswriter for MOJO News, a student-run news production at Monash University's Caulfield Campus. He enjoyrs writing and researching stories, and is described as a "news junkie" by his close friends. He also writes and acts for MOJO's satirical news TV program, The Struggle, currently in its tenth season. Jonathan is self-motivated and hard-working. In his senior year of high school he taught himself microeconomics, receiving the highest possible mark on the Microeconomics AP exam. Across three years, Jonathan took a total of 13 AP exams. Some other notable achievements include: the AP International Scholar award, coming 8th in the Drum Corps International World Championships with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, and second place in the Drum Corps European Championships with the Kidsgrove Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. Jonathan was awarded a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Warwick in summer of 2019. He is on track to receive an MA with distinction in Political and Legal Theory, and a High Distinction for his Master of Journalism, receiving both Masters degrees upon completion of the Jounalism MA in 2022.
