About Jonathan Herrera

My name is Jonathan Herrera, I am twenty-eight years old and I am a first-generation Mexican-American citizen. I grew up near the Old-Towne Orange area attending nearby schools such as: Palmyra Elementary School, Yorba Middle School, Orange High School, and Santiago Canyon College, before pursuing my Bachelor's of Arts in Integrated Educational Studies at Chapman University. Throughout my journey at Chapman, I have been given the opportunity to partake in classroom experiences that have challenged my predisposed convictions and empowered me to broaden my perspectives. In addition to my aforementioned classroom experiences, I had the opportunity to work in an after-school program that has been supplemental in my career development. I have a short-term goal of obtaining more hands-on experience in the educational field and working with students of different backgrounds and abilities, and a long-term goal of pursuing even higher-level education in hopes of one day becoming a professor myself. My purpose of pursuing my goals is the enrichment I feel working with students. Additionally, growing up with people who have identified themselves with a disability has allowed me to look into a career path where I will be working with individuals with disabilities.
