About Jonathan Hupfeld

I am electrical engineering MS student at Columbia University with a BA in physics.My background in liberal arts allows me to bring a different perspective as well as different solutions to problems being solved by your typical electrical engineers.I have strong knowledge on sociology, politics, environmental studies, and philosophy.I also have a robust background in computer science, math, and chemistry.With the ability to use the experiences from these many different disciplines, I can traverse issues others wouldn't be qualified to do.Furthermore, I possess a unique leadership skillset gained from holding the position of captain of the varsity swim team at Oberlin College for three years.I oversaw over fifty program activities and events inside and outside of official swim season.I also bolstered recruitment of prospective students, helping team double in size. I am pursuing a degree in electrical engineering as my ultimate goal as is to advance sustainable energy by improving environmental practices, specifically in power storage and transmission.I am very interested in the environmentally sustainable use of circuitry and electronics.I aspire to work toward incorporation of sustainable energy into the electrical grid, in the advancement of energy conversion with solar energy and with environmentally sound practices.
