About Jonathan Kenon

Jonathan Kenon is a Health Information/ Compliance Manager in the area of Behavioral Health (Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Developmental Disabilities services). His degree is a Master's in Public Administration (MPA). Jonathan received a job opportunity after working at a Lawyers Branch for 8 years to change careers and advance himself. This was the start of his HIM career. Jonathan is a meticulous person by nature, and even more when dealing with documentation and disclosing patient information. Every covered entity should have a system that delivers honest and ethical services that aren’t wasteful or fraudulent. It is his objective at any healthcare facility he might be employed with to prevent these things from happening. Jonathan thought it be best to have a degree that was universal; which is the reason he completed an MPA. For generations to come, healthcare entities will require a steady stream of individuals with knowledge of the health care system to enforce regulations. Public Administration continues to help shape and debate the policy at all levels. Some of my task as HIM included: Updating policies on privacy for the company to adhere to HIPAA, HITECH, and state laws on keeping healthcare information private & secure. Monitor laws that affect the company. This can be federal/state laws, regulations, and local/municipal laws. Educate employees on ethics and compliance. Oversee all risk management & safety-related programs within the organization. Investigate allegations and reports of fraud, abuse, breaches, HIPAA violations, and improper disclosing of client information. Audit all clinical documentation, ensuring that staff delivers services pursuant to company, state, and federal policy and that it's documented correctly.
