About Jonathan Kwee

Adaptability, Flexibility, Malleability. These adjectives are the basis of my character as what I do embodies or strives to achieve a balance of these concepts. I was always considered the tech-savvy person in my family - the one who gets called when the printer fails or when the computer fails to startup correctly. Prior to college, the extend of my interaction with a computer are limited to fixing issues through Google (a very crucial skill to have now too!). I have never thought about pursuing a profession relating to Computer Science. During my freshmen year in college, I have taken an introductory course to computer science where I was exposed to the flexibility of coding. Seeing something that I have envisioned working to solve a certain problem was liberating for me and it was then, I believe I have found my affinity towards coding and decided to pursue it professionally. Programming languages by themselves are static but once logic and concepts are combined, flexible applications can be formed. Even after an application is considered code complete, an application must also be maintained and adapted to the ever changing requirements. The world of computer science is also progressing quickly where new concepts are overturning old ones. This entire package of dynamism allows me to achieve my greatest potential as I often find myself learning new concepts in order to tackle the unknowns. Professionally, I am well verse in developing RESTful Web Services through Java using the Spring Framework. As a hobby, my current interest is to setup my own home lab so I can learn the intricacies of computer infrastructure, networking and distributed systems. I am currently using Opnsense and Ubiquiti solutions for my network, Proxmox for my visualizing needs while running Kubernetes on top of them.
