About Jonathan Lambert

My research focuses on the intersection of mitochondrial and cardiovascular biology. Mitochondrial cristae, the cellular bioenergetic units of life, are dynamic sub-compartments and cardiomyocytes actually contain the highest density of mitochondrial cristae of any cell type in the body. I am particularly interested in investigating the mechanisms by which cellular metabolism or metabolic machinery itself regulate the structure and dynamics of cristae and in understanding how this contributes to cardiac pathophysiology. Besides benchwork, I am highly active in the basic cardiovascular biology and cellular biology research community. Currently, I serve as an Early Career Investigator Representative for the International Society for Heart Research-European Section. In 2020, I became a Junior Reviewer for the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology and was recognized as an outstanding reviewer in 2022. In 2025, I became a member of the Early Career Editorial Board for Cells. My research has been generously supported by a MSCA individual post-doctoral fellowship, an EMBO long term fellowship, and an International Society for Heart Research-Servier research award.
